Crittergators of the Corn: Small Harvest
Corn! The conversation:
"What a pretty gold color!"
"Is it a totem pole? What does it MEAN!???"
"What do we do with it? Do we eat it? Shall we ride it? String lights from it?"
"What are those little fuzzy hairs on top for? Is that a toupee?"
The song to accompany this bit of whimsy is Neil Young, with the song Heart of Gold. The song was originally recorded in 1971 as part of the album Harvest. This particular version was recorded on September 22, 1985, as part of the very first Farm Aid, which was organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young.
That first Farm Aid raised $9 million to help America's family farmers (read more about the history of Farm Aid here). This year's Farm Aid benefit concert will be held this coming Saturday, September 21, in Sarasota Springs, NY.
