The Brandenburg Gate
Today has been a day packed full of memories of this lovely city. We visited Check Point Charley probably one of the better known hot spots and decided to visit the museum. It didn't disappoint and was so well done that it really brought home the horror and misery of the years during the Cold War when east was east and west was where a lot of people tried to flee going to great and amazing lengths to escape.
Today's blip is of the Brandenburg Gate which was isolated and inaccessible during the partition standing right next to the Berlin Wall. When the wall came down in 1989 much of the media coverage came from here. I dare say there will be a lot of media attention this weekend when Germany goes to the polls once again.
