Food for a Week
Today Mr. Odd Days and I bought out a warehouse-style grocery store. Or, at least it felt like it. $900 and some odd dollars later + 2 flat-bed grocery carts and 3 regular carts. This is what our van looked like from the back. And, we had taken out the back bench seat so it really was solid groceries from the back door to the passenger seats, floor to ceiling. Now why, you might be asking, would you need so many groceries and just for one week? Do you have a large family? While I was tempted to explain to people who gave us odd looks in the store that we have 12 kids, I didn't. (We only have two.) What if I said that was only 1 of 3 shopping trips for a week's worth of food? Worried? I am. :) I am one 3 adult cooks for our church's middle school summer camp. It begins tomorrow. I am also in charge of food procurement. So 90 people times 14 meals equals a van-load, a Honda-load and a large pickup truck-load of food! It came out to be $2 per person per meal. Pretty pleased with that. And, they are getting "real" food all week -- not just rice and beans. So, I hope to get many fun blips from camp. (PS: That's not a whole box of organic spinach; I am not that cruel! :) It's just one several boxes of bread products.)
