Shaw's Cowfish

A good rolling opportunity for Ruby. Fortunately a subtle perfume that I couldn't smell myself.

Felt pleased that I could identify this dried husk from my Sea Fishes of Southern Australia Book. Thought the bumps on the spine were remains of a dorsel fin but no... they have those bumps just like that and a tail that looks like it's poking out of a wrapping.

The flesh of these fish is considered poisonous (according to the book) which makes me wonder why they don't just say "it is poisonous" rather than considering it to be so.

Fortunately Ruby was more interested in rolling on it than tasting it.
