independence Fever

It's now exactly one year until the boters of Scotland will go to the polls to decide if their country should becone independent once again. So to mark the occasion the BBC had set up a temporary studio tent to host their discussions. However the presence of Jackie Bird and Brian Taylor did not seem to have drawn a crowd.

The next year has the potential to be very exciting indeed. A return to real politics with a polar choice between real alternatives. On one side a vision of change and the chance to do things differently. On the other an appeal to nostalgia and the status quo with a side helping of negativity.

It won't be hard to guess which side has my vote but I do hope that the voters will grasp the chance to get engaged with something truly historic.
