Oakland Skyline

We are having a small adventure. We're meeting friends, who sold their big house in Berkeley about the same time we sold ours, at their new condo in Jack London Square. We'll drink a "toast to our new lives" and then go to dinner somewhere just out their front door.

Reluctant to ask to stay with friends, we checked into the downtown Oakland Marriott. Why were we not surprised to discover that the key we were given didn't open the door and there is no free wifi in the rooms? I'm writing this on my iPhone as we make our way across town, dodging cars, buses and cyclists all trying to do the same thing at the same time.
