Diana Mary Fluck was born in Swindon. She died in 1984,aged 52, This bronze statue to her stands at the Link Centre in the town, with her film and celebrity name of Diana Dors.
She was also known as "Englands Marilyn Monroe". She said at the time she was "the only sex symbol Britain has produced since Lady Godiva". Stared in over 40 films including "Lady Godiva Rides Again" with Joan Collins,Syd James and Ruth Ellis(last women to be executed in UK).
The old News of The World loved her,scandalous copy just flowed like a river from her.
