Lovely walk in the Leukerbad Valley today - hope we didn't overdo it! The weather was superb and the Alpine scenery straight out of the guidebooks, including cows with harmonious bells. There is a famous thermal baths here that are a delight to relax in after a day's walking in the mountains. Jemima Morrell, whose 1863 trip we are following, noted that activities in the pool included chess, backgammon and knitting - we didn't try any of these! The best bit was being in the outside pool and looking up at the mountains and feeling the occasional cool breeze in contrast with the hot water.
