In the dark ...
HeartFreek's September Challenge.
I rushed home from work and straight to Beamish Museum. As I arrived after the time for last admission, I explained to the kind lady at the entrance why I needed to pop in very quickly to get a photo (the potted version obviously!), she kindly obliged. Luckily I could get the shot I wanted as I entered the Museum.
This is technically not "in the dark" although if you take a trip down the drift mine in The Pit Village, you are almost definitely in the dark. The pit workers often were on their hands and knees in cold, damp and eerie conditions. I didn't venture down the mine today but have been down in the past. If you are interested, here is a video of the Colliery Winding Engine pictured in my photo. It was built by J&G Joicey & Company of Newcastle Upon Tyne and is the only surviving one of its type.
