And still they come!

This applies to both the wonderful flowers of Verbena bonariensis, which has been the most amazing spectacle this summer in the garden and is still producing flowers, and the Large White butterflies, which have been ever-present through the summer. As soon as there was a gap in the showers today a couple of Large Whites turned up and headed for the tall clump of Verbena. At times they were flying in quite cold periods with no sun - perhaps, with so many around this year, we are seeing a little bit of evolution happening, with a handful of really tough individuals able to function in less than ideal conditions. It will be interesting to see how abundant and adaptable they are next year.
