Roof Timbers

Poking around in the various farm buildings around the gite, this roof caught my attention. In many ways grossly over-designed, perhaps that's one of the reasons so many of these old buildings survive today across the French countryside. The combination of heavy timbers, beautiful ochre-coloured local sandstone and red clay tiles is absolutely characteristic of the Dordogne.
