One Step at a Time

Old Acquaintances

Given the continued grim weather, I figured that today would finally be a good day to pop into the new Library of Birmingham. It's still enjoying it's first flush of popularity so it was pretty busy and progress around the place made even slower by PEOPLE STANDING ON ESCALATORS.

In many parts it feels like visiting a new house with all your old stuff in it due to the inevitable fact that it's the same old books you're walking amongst. I'd been thinking for a while that maybe the old sheet music books I used to borrow as a teenager were still in there. And I'm pleased to report that they are ! I won't pretend that I ever mastered any Paganini but some of the less fearsome composers were within my grasp. Some of the books had still had return dates in the front going back to the 1980's. Marvellous. Sad. But marvellous.
