Douai

After a night beside the canal at La Fere, we headed on the last big trek north. We stopped at Douai for lunch and happened on the market just as it was packing up. Major fail in the handbag shopping stakes. We had a big success in buying tomato, jambon and cheese topped rolls for lunch, but huge disappointment in the afternoon cake supplier. I just hope the Macarons we bought for M+D were as good as the rolls, not the cake.

Our next stop was Dunkerque, to while away some time and shop. Still no handbag bought we headed to Calais for a dinner of sorts. The rough guide had served us well, but not in it's restaurant guide. Ah well, to bed at our second favourite beach at Sangatte again, near to Calais for our early ferry home.
