CYPRESS TREE

Love the vertical that this tree provides in the landscape. We have a good view of it through the bathroom window where the deep green foliage provides a stunning background to the ochre berries of the syringa tree.
I climbed over the fence to get a new and fresh view of the surrounding landscape and inevitably my neighbour came by in his "bakkie", arm out of the window, wearing a short sleeved cotton shirt. The rest of us are wrapped up in warm jerseys. He told me that he has a good crop of assorted lettuces and is providing the village hotel and restaurants with fresh lettuce. I'll collect some from the market tomorrow.
