Went back in time today - to 1913

Caught a tram to the town - visited the bank - the co-op - and saw cough drops being made at the sweet shop - after we'd visited the dentist

Then walked to the pit village - complete with school - chapel and colliers houses. Visited the pit head and went into a drift mine

Spent some time at Pokerley Old Hall and gardens before visiting Home Farm

Here we discovered Mollie - who had just been given an apple by the farmer - try large and you can see it still in her mouth.

All this was at Beamish Museum - well worth the cost - and the tickets are valid for a year - so we can do it all again - for free
