One Final Flight
On Friday 20th September 2013 the last two active VC10s still flying with 101 Squadron will fly their last operational sortie. During this trip they will carry out air-to-air refuelling and perform fly pasts at several RAF bases. The full schedule is available through the link above. The fly pasts will be carried out individually:
ZA147 –
12.20 – Newcastle
12.40 – Warton
13.05 – RAF Coninsby (VC10 will be accompanied by a GR4)
13.15 – RAF Marham (VC10 will be accompanied by a GR4)
13.35 – Birmingham
ZA150 –
12.35 – RAF Lossiemouth (VC10 will be accompanied by a GR4)
12.55 - RAF Leuchars (VC10 will be accompanied by a Typhoon)
13.15 – Prestwick
After this the aircraft will form up again for a fly past at RAF Brize Norton before landing around 14:00. After this trip the list of scheduled events for these aircraft is short. On Sunday one or both will be seen in a Photocall event at Brize and all rumours indicate that on Wednesday the last ever landing will be performed at Bruntingthorpe.
Just a wee post on the VC-10 probably the last truly all British built aircraft.
