Quilter's delightful blipmeet

This morning 10 of our quilting group met, clutching empty bags and eager with anticipation as we were all off to spend the day at the Scottish Quilt Exhibition in Edinburgh. The show's venue at Ingleston was buzzing by the time we arrived and our first port of call was - yes, a cuppa, where we could discuss our modus operandi and arrange meeting times for the important things like lunch. Immediately I entered the floor of the show I met friedaquilter as we had arranged to meet for a cuppa before looking round the exhibition and stalls. I had met Frieda just once before, at the Loch Lomond Quilt Show in May, so it was a delight this time to be able also to introduce her to my fellow quilters, most of whom are beginners, and we had great chat in which she told us a bit about her quilt making and generally inspired us all with her love of quilting. Frieda had three gorgeous quilts in the exhibition, each sporting a rosette, but i have to say that this one was simply sublime so I had to blip Frieda beside it, also showing off her well deserved red Judges Merit rosette. The large quilt called Double Doodle was inspired by her own doodling as a youngster. Each two dimensional square was of the same doodle but some showed the negative in relief and the others, the positive, and each worked from a wonderful array of different fabrics. Please check Frieda's blog to see the design in more detail, especially the intricate beading which positively sparkled under the spotlight. I took the long shot as I wanted to show the artist proudly beside her quilt and rosette! it was super to meet up again and i look forward to the next time Frieda.

Throughout the day we had such fun within the group looking for fabric, patterns and general inspiration and the time disappeared very quickly. We met for a very happy half hour at lunchtime where there was a fun flurry of pulling out purchases from an assortment of bags to share our treasures and chat excitedly about what project they were designed for. This was repeated all around the hall as groups met to show off what they had found and point others in the direction of particular bargains.

Once home I took my patient dogs straight out for a good walk and then returned to flop back in my chair for a cuppa.
