The Great Scottish Tapestry

It was our turn to brave the queues (40 minutes and pleasant company to pass the time) and join the merrie thronge at the Scottish Parliament to see the wonderful Great Tapestry of Scotland, depicting the history of Scotland, on its penultimate day of display. We spent three hours there, including a break for lunch, before overload kicked in.

Despite it being a poor photo - indeed, it was difficult, in the crush of bodies, to obtain a good enough view for any decent photo - I've chosen the panel of James Hutton, the pioneer of modern geology, with reference to Siccar Point and Salisbury Crags, where he recognised the importance of the different ages of the rocks.

Not all the panels are finished so we are considering following the tapestry when it goes on tour - we were told York was one destination - or at least seeing it again but in a more spacious setting, regarding today's visit as a preview.
