Left Foot, Right Foot

Bereft of blips in mid-afternoon, we stopped off at Lake Padden Park and wandered around looking for likely subjects. This odd couple -- a Canada Goose, gender unknown, and a female Mallard -- seemed to be practicing their yoga poses, the goose in a standing position and the duck preferring a nice flat rock.

Meanwhile, on the shore, there was another odd couple -- a second Mallard female, busy grooming herself, accompanied by a beautiful blue-gray duck that I was unable to identify, despite an extensive online search.

Watching the Canada Goose thoroughly groom itself by assuming poses that looked impossible was fascinating! You can see some of them here, once you move past the odd couple.
