Lessons from mom

It doesn't take much to make a good meal. Fresh garlic, olive oil, fresh herbs, maybe some fresh tomatoes. Cook by your nose, she said, and you'll know when the garlic is done. And when the pasta is gone, when all that's left is the goodness sticking to the bottom of the bowl, you just pour your last sip of wine in and sop it all up with a bit of fresh bread.
