St Margaret The Virgin
This is one of the lovely stained glass windows in St Margarets Church of Art. A good way of creatively useing one of many medieval churches in Norwich eh!.
Many legends around this woman : one apocryphal tale, shown here,is Satan, in dragon form, swallowed her, but her Christian cross so irritated his guts he spat her out and she the slaughtered him.
Another claims her as a transformation by the Catholic /Anglican Church from the pagan Aphrodite. A good way of sanitising and disempowering!.
Do hold onto, that originaly, the word Virgin had nothing to do with genital sexuality. It meant a woman complete unto herself : good eh!
