Crossing

R and B treated us to lunch by the Ogrodniki border crossing in Dusznica. I had beetroot soup, a shnitzel without flour or breadcrumbs and plenty of G&T.

Looking at the map, I was able to explain to myself why there is a border marker on the other side of the road from the point I was standing. The road here was open to lorry traffic once, but now it is restricted to cars and buses. It seems strange to think that a few years ago it was the Soviet Union on the other side and now you can drive through without showing your passport. There was a shortage of willing subjects today, so this is the newly laid road.

I dozed off when we got back.
