Minyon Falls, Nightcap National Park
We have been a bit house bound for the last month or so - we have been getting our ensuite re-done and it seems incredible that one little room could take so long, need so many decisions and also have so many hassles. There seems to have been tradesmen and mess for ages so today we escaped for the day and took a long drive up into the hills and hinterland behind Lismore. It is a a lovely area with lots of narrow winding roads leading off in many directions. The road up to the falls is dirt and extremely narrow with a massive sheer drop one one side. There wasn't a lot of flow from the falls - I guess because it has been rather dry for the last few months- but the view from the lookout was amazing, right out to the coast in the distance and a massive drop down into the palm shaded gorge at the bottom of the falls. This shot is sort of taken sidewards and doesn't really show the height it's take from but the huge Palms at the bottom of the gorge looked like little garden ferns. The cliff is rhyolitic rock which was formed from lava flows millions of years ago and is quite beautiful. We then wound our way down to the little village of Eltham where we had a very relaxing lunch at a nice old country pub.
I haven't had much chance or opportunities for blipping lately but I have managed to check out quite a few journals but just haven't had any time for commenting. I hope things settle down soon as things should be back to normal by the end of this week - if there are no more problems. But then we will have Miss A. here from Wednesday for the school holidays - never a dull moment.
