After the march
A con-trail Saltire made a serendipitous appearance in the sky above my parents' house this morning, the day after they both (aged 85 & 86) walked from Chambers St to the High St and then on with the Yes campaign march up to the top of Calton Hill to hear Elaine C Smith give the excellent opening address to the marchers.
They started married life as young, idealistic actors in a travelling company (Compass Players) set up in the 40s by an artist who was a conscientious objector and his dancer wife. Based near Gloucester, they took serious, high quality productions to rural and small-town halls and schools round England, west and north of London.
Now (very) senior citizens, their youthful idealism burns on.
