Plums and Custard

Another day, another foray. This time with 2 friends. We were hoping to find some good edible stuff and based on recent outings, I was feeling optimistic as this is usually a good spot. It involves quite a steep climb, and has the benefit of some stunning views of Hope Valley and the Vale of Edale and the weather was superb. There were quite a lot of a very few species, and very little of anything edible. But no matter. The weather, the views and the company were all excellent and we rounded off our morning with a bacon sarnie in the famous and wonderfully eccentric Grindleford Cafe. Sadly, the rude notices have been toned down a bit, and are now nicely typed and laminated, but still retain much of their gritty charm, such has The quality of the service depends on the attitude of the customers. and If you want your tea or coffee black, please say so. We are not mind readers.
The mushroom? Plums and Custard - the red top is the plums and the yellow gills are the custard. The Sunday name is equally wonderful - Tricholomopsis rutilans. A beauty, but sadly not edible.
