Dunfermline Palace
Took flynn and the boys for a wee explore round Dunfermline Abbey and Palace today and then down to all the secret paths the Pittencrieff Park.
When we saw this part of the Palace I told them about when I was young and first moved to Dunfermline we had a springer spaniel called Patch. very origonall I know! I took him down for a walk down there and he was off the lead and ran ahead ......right out of one of the bottom windows that you can see in the picture.....what's the problem you may ask.....the big massive drop at the other side was the problem, with nothing but a slab of rock and a tarmac path to land on!!!!
There was silence as he disappeared from my sight....I had no idea what was at the other side as I'd never been there before!
Then as I looked out the window I couldn't believe the drop....he was yelping, lying on the pathway. I had to find my way to him by just listening and following his cries. By the time I'd got to him there was a lady with him who had also heard him. He was sitting up and seemed fine!!
A trip to the vet after that just to check....he got the all clear. (the vet also told us he wasn't the first dog to do it!)
God knows he survived it....but he did,and all he had to show for it was a slight limp! Lucky lucky dog!!
They have it all fenced off now so that you can't just walk down without a ticket. (I always wondered how any children hadn't done the same, as the sills were that low!)
Everytime I saw this advert it always reminded me of that terrible day!!
