Ultrasprint at Hopetoun House

Today, our orienteering club, ESOC (Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club), put on an Ultrasprint at Hopetoun House near South Queensferry. This consisted of 3 courses that combined park orienteering with several sections in a maze. The maze was unusual, being circular with 4 ways in and out, and many dead ends. The courses were each about 2 kilometres long in straight line distance, but the running distance was further than this, due to avoiding thickets or buildings, and dodging about in the maze. The winning times were between 10 and 12 minutes. This is a view west from the house, and I was lucky the fountain was in full flow when the photo was taken.
