Japanese Gardens
The Sydney suburb of Auburn has one of the best Japanese gardens in Australia. Built on a former rubbish tip and waste area, it was the brainchild of Eric Black, a town planner employed by the Auburn Council.
After visiting Japan he thought that this disused site would be a suitable place for such a garden and convinced the Council to accept his suggestion.
After many years of development, it has become a much sought after site for tourists and visitors, with many marriages conducted within the gardens. In fact if you want to use the gardens for your marriage you need to book with the council at least twelve months ahead such is its popularity.
You can see a "Japanese Tea House" in the background situated on the lake. Further back can be seen a white peaked mountain. On one day last month over 2000 people went through the gardens viewing the cherry blossoms.
If you ever visit Sydney I suggest that you don't miss the Auburn Botanic Gardens.
