The World As One

Following some retail therapy and a very delicious lunch in Mijas I saw this world map made of small characters representing features of each country like giraffes in Africa and kangaroos in Australia. My limited Spanish allowed me to work out it's title as The World As One and there are small plaques around it with flags from various countries on them.

Apparently, for the last 25 years there has been an international festival in the first week of June to celebrate the 100 or so nationalities living in Mijas. Twenty one countries were represented this year and it kicked off on Friday 7th June with a Latin party and continued with live music from countries like Columbia, USA, Brazil and Korea after the official opening on the Saturday 8th. Different countries are represented each year and there are always new things to try, this year they included Thai salads and Argentinian empnadas!

Strikes me we slipped up and arrived 3 months too late!
