Dragonboating UK
I haven't seen Barbara since we left Teachers College over 30-some years ago. She lives near Nottingham, just down the road from Melton, and as we didn't manage to coordinate a meeting when I drove up to the lakes last week, we tried again today. Success :) I drove over to Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre where her hubby was competing in the National Dragonboating Championships (seems odd that Dragonboats are popular here in England) We didn't have a lot of time but did manage a coffee and a good chat. Great to see you Barbara - it's amazing that, after so long, the chatting was easy :)
In the evening I took Tricia and dad out for their birthday dinners. Went to Scalford, a village just outside Melton, where we enjoyed a very scrumptious dinner in a typically-English country pub. Back to dad's for a cuppa and a chat afterwards, said goodbye to Eileen then headed back to Tricia's (stopping through town to take a few night shots of the old church which always looks so beautiful). It's hard to belive that I'm heading in to last week here in England - it has flown by sooooo quickly.
