The grim news

Newspapers are usually messengers of bad news. And nothing is grimmer than hostages in a terrorist attack. Although we need to be aware of the big evil world out there, it is not exactly what is wanted at the end of a day's work. I avoid overdosing on bad news, but plenty of people seem to lap it up. The Metro is free, and usually copies have all disappeared by 5 pm. Not so this evening. However, this chap was more intent on reading the sports pages, I think.
