SZR - Sheikh Zayed Road

This is what some newbies in Dubai think is our one and only road!! It is the road that connects Dubai to Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi (the Capital) and over the last 15 years, has changed beyond recognition. It got so busy, a few years ago, the Roads & Transport Authority decided a toll would help ease congestion - which it did for a bit, but during peak hours or if there is an accident, motorists can sit for quite a long time going nowhere fast (think M25) - which makes me think - if you pay a toll to get a clear road, then they ought not to charge you if you end up sitting in a traffic jam!

Why was I on this today? I travelled on the Metro (you can see the line on the right) to meet up with G after school. We wanted to watch a movie in the Ski Mall. Got there no problem; but heading home around 7pm was a different story. Loads of traffic and there had been an accident, so decided to try alternate routes. Made us later back but at least we didn't pay to sit in a traffic jam!

First day of work tomorrow. Yikes! I admit I am nervous.
