Ryder Cup Express
Thanks to a tip off, I heard this loco was going to be passing Morningside Station on the Edinburgh 'sub'. Loco 46115 'Scots Guardsman' had hauled her train up from West Coast Railway's base at Carnforth overnight and is seen here approaching Morningside Sation a little late as she had to tackle the gradient through Craiglockhart a couple of times before succeeding. Once in (the long closed) Morningside Station a hose was run by the crew from a fire hydrant, down the embankment and into the loco to refill the water tank. Much steam was let off and the crew took time to check her over. Then it was off to Waverly station where the two team captains of next year's Ryder Cup tournament and a phalanx of journalists were picked up and transported to Gleneagles in a publicity exercise for the tournament being held in Scotland one year from now. I also need to thank Mrs. Legodude for making sure I was up in time to go see this before work. Difficult deciding which shot to use, will post some more to my blipfolio when I have time.
