Finger eater

This mechanical timer controls the lights outside my office. The arrows are screwed into the time wheel and push the lever on or off as the time passes.

To manually turn on the lights, simply move the lever firmly right to left.

Oh, but beware those metal screws that attach the live wires. Heh. Heh. They're less than a half inch past the lever...

...and my fat fingers brush them every single time!. Over the years I've grown to dread this contraption and every instance I have to alter the time. Which is every time we lose power.
