Perpendicular
These perfectly painted perpendicular pillars are holding up the roof of L'Eglise de Notre Dame La Grande, in Poitiers city. There were lots of pillars in the church and every one was painted in different colours and with different patterns.
We took my Sister-in-Law on the train into the city. She had never been on a French train despite having lived here for over three years. We were feeling very pleased with ourselves when we managed to get our tickets from a machine which only had instructions in French. The train was on time and delivered us straight to the centre of the city. We had a leisurely lunch and did some sightseeing.
Getting back was a different story, however. Something had happened on the line which caused our return train to be cancelled. We ended up having to be bused back to the station we started out from. Still a good day overall.
I bought some roses for Rob from a stall outside the church. I've put them next to his picture. Hope he enjoys them.
