Puglia Day 1 - our trulli house
This area of Puglia, the Val d'Itria, rejoices in these dwellings, the purpose of which no-one knows. Completely dark indoors (OK in summer, but at other times of the year?), all fairly identical. We were charmed by our house on arrival, but not for long. There are literally tens of thousands of them all over the countryside.
We'd picked up Mike, the marvellous old 91 year old who invited us here for this week (having bid for it and won it at a local Worcester Conservative Party fund-raising occasion - have to swallow my repugnance here) and his lady Pat (she refers to herself as Mike's 'bit o' stuff', and she's only 80) at Bari airport in the morning, and took advantage of being the first to arrive to grab the best rooms.
