Flags Over The Nissen Hut

Went back to the Aerodrome after work to have a look at the inside of the hotel. But, there was a conference going on and I couldn't get what I wanted, so I went out onto the airfield.

There are a couple of Nissen huts - shelters made from corrugated steel used by the Commenwealth and the US military to build army camps and airbases - which are now used as part of the Museum. (only open at the weekends)

The flags are the RAF Ensign, and the US 48 star flag (changed in 1959). And of course, the wind sock.

I think I have eveloped a little bit of a passion for this place and think I may have found myself a new hobby.

So, how about a little bit of Blipfoto community singing?

All together, in your very best Vera Lynn..

'We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.
Keep smiling through, just like you always do.
'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away'

Lovely, I can hear you from here.
