Serviceable
I wouldn't say it's a burden, taking a photo a day, but like any project no matter how enjoyable, sometimes it is one more thing that needs to be remembered. And not just remembered; remembering to take a photo is easy enough (although I've had a couple of near misses). It's remembering to find something interesting enough to take a photo of. Or at least something illustrative of my day.
So, it's always nice to be going somewhere new because it feels like a photographic free lunch; there's bound to be something I want to photograph. And today I was off to see a client in Warwick at some offices I hadn't been to before.
Unfortunately, me cheerful optimism was, on this occasion, ill-founded. My satnav took me from the motorway, along some featureless A roads to a business park :-(
And when we finished, it was just shy of the rush hour, so venturing off into the wilds of Warwickshire seemed a bit daft, so instead I rejoined the A roads and, subsequently, the motorway.
After a conversation with Dom, last week, I've been thinking about writing a book again - just thinking; I very much doubt it will happen - so I lost myself in my story of fault and redemption (plus a bit of sex) until I turned off at the services on the Midland Expressway.
I thought that there was bound to be some public art or a nice space I might capture but there was none. The service station was basically there for lavatorial activities, food and shopping. I was about to give up when I noticed the building itself: not just the brutalist set of boxes one might have expected but actually something more akin to the architectural adventures of Heathrow's Terminal 5.
Which is my way of saying, this is the only remotely photo-worthy thing I saw today!
