Oktoberfest #5: Armbrustschützenzelt
Oktoberfest #5: Armbrustschützenzelt
Felt like shit today morning after yesterday's Wiesn visit. Work was (of course) awful awesome.
Afterwards I took a nap I met with my CouchSurfers and Markus at Gärtnerplatz for a coffee and a stroll along the river. We then headed home to refresh, to hit Oktoberfest again. We parted as I had to pick up Laura and they wanted to eat something before the drinking starts again. So we agreed to meet at the Oktoberfest - what should I say: they somehow didn't make it?! Laura and I took a few round in the Weißbierkarussell (a beer serving merry-go-round - probably a Bavarian invention) meanwhile, and when it became obvious, that my CouchSurfers are not going to make it, the two of us headed into one of the beer tents. To make a long story short, we ended up at a table, drinking with the South African National Team in Tug of War. Well, stranger things have happened, I guess...
After the tents closed, Laura and I decided to have a little nightcap at her place which turned out to be an overly strong Gin-Tonic. We then randomly skyped with Jen, to have a very sophisticated conversation...
The blip shows the front of one of the 'beer tents' (they are actually rather solid structures): the Armbrusschützenzelt.
For the last few days (starting here) and until the end of Oktoberfest, the biggest beer festival in the world, I will post a picture of the festivities every day as I'm going to be there pretty much every day. So if you are interested stop by - I hope you'll enjoy it!
