What's holding us up...

Here's an alternative view of the Forth Road Bridge, with a sneaky wee Rail Bridge shot in the background.

I think bridges are amazing feats of engineering. I'm amazed everytime I cross the Forth. It's not the biggest bridge in the world, but it's on my doorstep and I think it's pretty darn cool.

This is the point where the main cables go beneath the deck to connect to the ground and basically hold up the traffic crossing it.

I wish I could get a tour of the guts and garters of the bridge. Under the deck, walk up the cables, that sort of thing but I'm sure this is probably impossible in this Health and Safety metalised world we are in now.
