The Whu Zhi Qiao Project

One of the amazing aspects of this University is its emphasis on Community and Community engagement, there are all sorts of initiatives being undertaken by students to assist those in need.

On my way back from lunch today, I spotted this great model on the concourse, (apologies for the reflection from its glass case!) being looked after by a couple of students who were trying to recruit more students to join in their project.

The Whu Zhi Qiao Project takes Hong Kong and Mainland Students into remote rural villages to build footbridges and facilities for villagers in need, and as a result, "build spiritual bridges of love and care"

The students learn about the local culture and environment, source local materials and work with the villagers to transfer relevant skills and knowledge in order that the locals can undertake maintenance work in the future.
