Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Festival of the Arts, Laguna Beach

It's almost 11:00 p.m. in Southern California as I post this entry. I have spent the afternoon and evening with my daughter, Deidre (Dede to me -- named after my best friend in high school). Just after noon we left our inland city and headed for the coast.

We drove to the Newport Peninsula and walked a little so that I could show her a side of the Newport Bay that her Daddy and I discovered when we were there on vacation the past 2 weeks. Then we drove to Corona Del Mar, ordered lunch to go, took it to a park bench overlooking the Newport Channel and sat there for several hours after eating lunch -- just talking and talking. It was such good time.

Then about 4:00 p.m. we drove south to the city of Laguna Beach because our goal for the day was to go to the Art Festival grounds to see the band, "The Girls," this evening. We had a fun and fulfilling evening listening to music, talking with each other, and chatting with a couple from Laguna who asked if they could sit at our table, and, of course, we said, "Yes! Join us!"

At this hour of the evening, words escape me to explain or describe how wonderfully delightful it was to spend these hours with my youngest child, my only daughter. Wow!

One month from today Deidre's daughter, our first grandchild, Ashly, turns 21.

That's my report from Southern California for this August night.
