BINGO !
57 was lucky for someone.
The Capitol Cinema, Manderson Street (opened 1928) was converted into a Bingo Hall in 1961. The original structure and layout is still very clear.
The cinema entrance is through a railway arch under the never opened Leith Walk West Station and the auditorium is on the other side of the railway line. My father-in-law went to the Capitol as a kid in the 1930's and remembers that often the film soundtrack would be interrupted by the rumble of a heavy goods train going over the roof of the building.
On a previous blip the entrance is to the left of the picture and the large building to the right is the auditorium, with the railway going over the middle.
Thanks to my better half without whom leading the way I never would of gone inside the bingo hall to have a look round and take the picture.
