Broken

Not complete but I think this picture nicely shows the base of the Dog Stinkhorn fungi. The fungi stem erupts from an 'egg' which is semi submerged in the ground. You can see the egg and the base of the stem.

The whole fungi can be seen here, don't look if you are of a nervous disposition!
