Crane fly voyeur...
Backblip. We opened our bedroom shutters to find this big crane fly (tipulid) looking in. When I was taking this photo, it had tipped its head to the side and you can see one of its big compound eyes apparently looking at me. You can also clearly see its haltares, the dumbbell shaped vestigial wing structures found on flies. There have been a LOT of crane flies around this year, and a lot of them on our windows. As they often sit there all day, they make good photographic subjects!
