Special

My special Bear. Who had just discovered the blanket I'm working on for him has sleepydust woven into it!! He likes his blanket, knows it's "his".

Bean woke up super-early today and was dressed before anyone else, massively excited to be going to Gran and Grandad's EARLY today!! Funny boy. Took me ages to get ready, but when we were done and packed and car loaded we headed down the road first to the Friends Meeting House because I've been wanting to go and look around the grounds there for a while. It was beautiful. We looked for conkers, inspected trees, talked to the gardener who told us lots of interesting things, and Bean wanted to tell her lots of things too! Bear was tired and just wanted carrying and nursing... The lady told us she'd been really struggling to find some good conkers for her kids because the squirrels had been going mad for all the early conkers, throwing them down out of the trees and hiding them all away! We found a huge unopened fruit just outside the walls and decided to give it to the lady for her kids so Bean and Grandma ran back in to give it to her. She's warned us earlier that they lock the gates around 11am and typically as we ran back to the gates to leave sure enough they were locked! Rather than try and climb over the walls we went and found one of the preschool staff to let us out ;-) and then headed off to Gran and Grandad's for the day.

Fun with Auntie Joan for the boys while I relaxed and did some crochet, then Bean took the rest of the grownups off to the park while I attempted to settle Bear down for a nap. He resisted, and complained quite a lot about everyone else going out, but eventually the sleepydust in his blanket won and he slept long enough for me to have a much appreciated shower!

I'd laid out Ben's workbook and stickers and bits for him to show Auntie Joan and Gran when they got back and they had fun with Bean writing his name and searching out letter stickers to create his name with too. Bean drew Auntie Joan a picture to take home - his name, and on a second sheet lots of ticks and crosses for when she gets things right or wrong!!

Bear woke up and snuggled onto me for the rest if his sleep, and once Joan had gone Gran and I took Bear for a walk to the shops to buy some bits for the boys for birthdays / Christmas. Lots of chatting about the house and home educating on the way home, and Bean announced when we got back that he'd watched some tv! Thank goodness not cbeebies though - we watched some yesterday and it just made me want to rant!
