Milk & Honey

On a walk with the dogs and after Bliping the cows for my main journal, suddenly saw this bee house and shortly after the farmer came by & we got in to conversation. It turns out he is in the same beekeeping club (Ottobeuren) as MrB and which I will probably join. They are not a very active club only holding a couple of meetings a year - the AGM and another for a collective order for supplies. Suits me just fine. I think it has the advantage of one hen being able to officially claim to be a beekeeper.

He is also suffering under the wasp invasion which he tries to reduce by sticking an (empty) wine bottle with it's neck in the ground, making a small hole in the bottom and putting in some beer. Judging by the number of dead wasps in the bottles, it works but doesn't eradicate the problem. The entrances to the hives were full of dead wasps.
