Dendrochronology

There is always something interesting to see when I go for a walk if I look closely. Today's 3 mile walk to give a massage, yielded this tree trunk. I haven't studied dendrochronology so I don't know what this tree has lived through, but I think I see some fire scars and perhaps some insect infestation.
