Friday: Lake Moraine

Following a hearty breakfast, we took a drive out to Lake Louise, about 60km north of Banff.  The lake itself is pretty enough, but the massive hotel on the shore, and the masses of tourists it attracts) makes it a somewhat less than satisfactory experience.  So after that, we headed to Lake Moraine which, because it wasn't in the guidebook, was a much more satisfactory experience.....less people, lots of driftwood etc.

This afternoon we headed to the Banff Hot Springs for a dip - oh my, what an experience!  After sitting in the hot pools for an hour of so, we oozed out of there like little balls of mercury......it was wonderful, and we are definitely thinking of going back tomorrow.......

Oh, and the joys of a road trip - one of our highlights today was going to the laundrette!  There was something wonderfully quirky about taking our laundry out and then having clean washing with us while we had a few drinks and some dinner........the joys of being on the road!
