Pont du Gard

Heading north, but not on the autoroute and not very far. Spent an hour or so at Pont du Gard, an impressive World Heritage Site.

A three-tiered Roman aqueduct, once part of a 50km-lomg system of canals built about 19BC by the Romans to bring water from Uzès to Nîmes.

Apparently the place has a million visitors a year, averaging 15,000 or so daily in the high summer. There were not many people there today.

feather blipped this a few weeks ago. This is taken from the other end.

Overcast and humid today. I think we are in for some rain.
